I’ve been a fan of your work, without realizing it was your work! So, I greatly appreciate your interest in my work and experience.
But that’s not why you’re here. You’re looking for a conceptual thinker with solid design/craft chops and a passion for the outdoors.
As a native of Kitty Hawk, NC, I grew up doing more than surfing. While I surfed year-round, many a fall and winter were peppered with days of hunting and fishing. Surfing was my bride. Hunting and fishing were my mistresses.
From casting in the surf or from a pier to dropping a line in back creek marshes and deep-sea Gulf Stream trips, fishing was a way to stay out of trouble when the surf was flat.
I also spent many deeply cold dawns in duck blinds all over Eastern North Carolina. I realized, later in life, my father never took a shot. Though I probably missed more than I bagged, his shotgun was never warm, and I was the one who benefitted from his deference.
This is a tiny glimpse of my life growing up on the Outer Banks. I’m lucky to have experienced it.
It goes without saying that Yeti is the standard-setting brand. I wish it was around when I was a grommet.
